Lessoco is a private limited company in Swiss law («Aktiengesellschaft», AG). It has been established in February 2009, emerging from the «Stauber & Schatzmann GmbH» (S&S) which was specialised in energy efficiency projects in Eastern Africa. The two founders and partners of S&S, Andy Stauber and Kaspar Schatzmann, are also co-founders and managing directors of Lessoco. The Swiss company Datuma is a 47,5 per cent shareholder of Lessoco, Andy Stauber and Kaspar Schatzmann each hold 23,75 per cent and Daniel von Lucius, a private investor,
5 per cent. Daniel Meili, representing Datuma in the board of Lessoco, is also the chairman.
